Ascaso Steel UNO  is now even better with PID functionality.
 

Details:
These new PID new features, make all the difference to the original Steel Uno;
The Uno has a single boiler thermoblock for both steam and coffee.
It is also available as a double boiler called the Duo so you don't need to wait for the boiler to wait to heat up for steam.
Like the Dream and Steel, the ascaso steel PID has continuous steam when on steam mode and does not run out of steam - like the older models did with the older boilers.

Significantly reduces energy consumption and increases thermal stability in the group - Very handy if making more than 2 cups at a time.
A maximum deviation of +/-1.5°C. In continuous or intermittent use. From the first coffee to the very last. The traditional boiler and bimetal thermostats offered a deviation value of up to +/-5°C.

 

  With the ascaso PID, you can :


Adjust Pre-infusion: Decide how much of a pre-soak you need before extraction - perfect for more coffee cream.
Adjust    Coffee quantity: Preset coffee shots are ideal when you want to make a single or double shot - it will stop automatically.
Adjust    Pump pressure: After a few years the pump may lose its power and  that can easily be rectified by adjusting the OPV
Adjust    The temperature of the boiler to suit your blend coffee and adjust the dose of coffee dose. The PID is very handy if you need to make the shot at the exact temperature ie 92ºC - you can change boiler temperature from 85ºC - 110ºC via PID screen.
Adjust    Standby: Decide when the machine powers down to standby mode for 30 Min. 60 Min. or 2 hours

Adjust    Coffee timer: Decide if you want it turned on or off
Adjust     ºC ºF    Temperature: Choose Celsius or Fahrenheit Display shows up to 5 alarms

Ascaso Steel Uno Pid 230V

Hi, I watched some Youtube videos on this UNO and it seems there is a wait before using the steam wand of over 2 minutes. Some comments suggested that the wait is not as long in UK/EU due to 220v power supply vs the lower power supply in the USA. Could you please comment on this as it would be a key factor in my decision. Thank you. Jason

Hi Jason, Yes, you have to wait for the thermoblock to reach the steam point before you have steam, as there is only 1 boiler. (No wait if you have the DUO). The voltage is different in USA 120v v 230v in the EU, think the wait time would probably be the same. 2 min is very little - turn on the steam, and by the time you have your milk and jug collected it's almost time to steam anyway.

How long is the initial heating time so that one could start brewing coffee?

Hi Josef, the machine heats up in 90 sec and an additional 2.5 min for steam. Its fast heating is due to the single thermoblock.

Hi, I am interested in this product however I often make americanos and note there is no hot water outlet. Is there an easy way to get produce hot water from the machine?

Hi Thomas, You can get hot water by switching on the water switch, water is then diverted to the steam arm - open the steam for the water. Turn off the water switch when you have enough. Alternatively, you can use the coffee group. Water will exit at coffee temp for both the steam arm and group - so you will have to heat the cup 1st. PS If this is going to the UK RM will collect 20% UK VAT + small duty (approx 2.5%)
