Details:
You need to change your group gaskets as part of regular maintenance.
The group gasket seals the portafilter to the group and prevents coffee from escaping during its 9 bars of extraction. As the gaskets age, they go hard and pressure is lost as the coffee will escape from the side of the group.
When do I change the group gaskets?
- You should change your group gaskets every 6 months in a commercial environment and 12 months in a home setting.
- If group gaskets are not changed promptly - you will lose the 9 bars extraction pressure needed to get a good crema, as the gasket has gone hard and coffee will leak from the group.
- The gaskets will be very difficult to remove, as the rubber goes hard - change at the correct intervals and you will save time and improve quality.
We recommend that you always keep spare gaskets.
