How to use a Moka pot

The moka pot is found in almost every Italian home - typically in several sizes 1, 3, 6, and even 12 cups.

One of the best ways to use a moka pot is:

1. Fill the base with clean cold or hot water - up to the safety valve ( if filled beyond the valve it will leak on the hob).
2. Fill the steel funnel up to the top - slighted mounded so it convex, with preground coffee.
3. No need to tamp the coffee, if you fill the funnel - the act of screwing the top acts like a tamper.
4. Put on the gas or electrical hob until you start to hear coffee percolate.
5. Remove from heat and pour immediately when it has reached the desirable quantity.

Tip: 2 cups can be used but... unless the puck is perfect - coffee will come out of the funnels at different speeds resulting in different cup levels.
