This is  a generic steam thermostat for small boilers, including Gaggia and Brasilia 

The thermostat may have failed:
  • If you are finding it harder to steam the milk
  • If you have very little steam 
Easy to install - See how to fit the tab
  • This one is 145°C and is found on top of the boiler.
    When replacing, use thermal paste for more accuracy, and do not over-tighten the thermostat.

Easy to install a contact thermostat in a coffee machine

  1. Turn off the coffee machine and plug it out from the socket.
  2. Open the lid to get access to the boiler.
  3. Remove the wires from the thermostat
  4. Unscrew the old thermostat, anticlockwise from the boiler.
  5. Clean the area from any old thermal paste.
  6. Add the thermal paste to the base of the thermostat - (not the threads ).💡 Hand tighten only - ⚠️Never use a spanner as the soft brass threaded shaft will snap off.
  7. Screw in the new

The coffee thermostat is found at the side of the Gaggia  boiler - the steam thermostat is found on the top of the boiler
When replacing, do not over-tighten the thermostat.

💡 Suggestions:

  • Use  thermal paste for better thermal contact - see below - Thermal paste will make the thermostat more effective and accurate.
  • Replace the coffee thermostat at the same time - if one has failed the other won't be far behind or has failed already.

Good.
I bought 155°C steam thermostat as well, but I found that the temperature of milk is too high, and it's harder to control the stem, therefore I got back to the original 145°C steam thermostat, and it's much more predictable, and manageable.
