La Marzocco was started in 1927 by Giuseppe and Bruno Bambi in Florence Italy and is now based in Scarperia 30 km north of Florence. They used the lion as their logo as it was the symbol of Florence.
In 1970 they launched the GS model - GS stands for “Gruppo Saturo” meaning saturated brew group and eventually developed the Linea Classic in 1990, which Starbucks used until 2005. Thanks to international success in the commercial sector they developed the Mini line or Linea Mini, which was so successful they launched the Linea Micra making it easy for home baristas and espresso enthusiasts to prepare excellent coffee in the comfort of their homes, reaching the ideal espresso temperature in just five minutes.
