Lelit OPV valve MC097
Details: This is an over-pressure valve for Lelit and Pavoni Domus bar models. Factory set at 9 bars. This valve can get blocked with lime over time and extract pressure will drop to less than 9 bars. Regular descaling will help prevent lime buildup. You will need Teflon tape or thread glue to make the seal - see below.

It works BUT. ...
I wanted to experiment with lower brew pressures and while trying to adjust the OPV inside my Lelit Anna, the head of the screw that's supposed to adjust the spring tension inside the OPV got damaged. OK, I said to myself, I should have thought of this 2 years ago when the machine was new, not now when the OPV is set in stone from lime deposits. So I ordered a new one... Well, the same thing happened and despite my best efforts with high quality tools, the head of the screw is gone and the OPV cannot be adjusted and is stuck forever at the factory setting, which now is 11 bars, instead of 9-ish, as the old one. I had to adjust my espresso recipe, and settle for a ristretto (1:1.4 ratio, 18g in 25g out) instead of a 1:2 ratio, or else my coffee tastes bitter, way over extracted. This in itself is not a bad thing but I bought this OPV for the sole purpose of it supposedly being able to be regulated. If you're into trying to play with brew pressure, you might want to take a look at a second OPV that can be added directly after the water pump, with some modifications. Blue Star Coffee sells that one, too (vibration pump OPV kit)
