Why use a Dynamometric Pressurised Tamper?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Since the same pressure is applied, this will remove the inconsistencies associated with numerous members of staff applying varying rates of pressure to ground coffee.
The tamper can be adjusted by turning the handle clockwise or anticlockwise to decrease/increase the pressure. Turning the handle clockwise will tighten the spring and reduce the pressure required.

If your machine has stopped pulsing water through the Thermoblock than you may want to change this part.
It fits models with the new thermoblock or if made after +09/2012.

Dear BSC support,
on IMS it says that this shower is 51,9mm in diameter, while in your description it is 51,5mm. I have old Bezzera Hobby (51,9mm shower) and would like to upgrade it with this shower. Also, CI200IM is something I am considering, but it is also 51,5mm.
Will it work on my machine?
Best regards,
Josip
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi, We measured the CI35WM and it is 51.7mm wide - so should be fine - the standard size is 51.5mm for these shower screens. The CI200Im is 51.3mm so 4mm less and would not be a good replacement.

Hi, do I have to remove that little rubber inside of the pressure gauge or not? With the rubber in its reading 12+ bar. Without it is reading 8 bar. The pressure has never been adjusted before. Not sure which is correct.
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi, The gauge kit, comes with a rubber gasket and a metal gauze filter. The gasket is just to make a seal so its wont leak and the metal filter prevents debris getting into the gauge. Most Gaggia machines were set at 12 bar - so your model is probably 12/14 bars. If you are reading 8 bars with the gasket - then the gasket is probably not fitting correctly and is partially blocking the gauge.

No, S2 priming valves prevent airlocks in the pump and pressurized water from the boiler from going back into the water reservoir draining the boiler. Search on our site for "OPV kit" or "OPV" to see over-pressure valves.

Hi Blaer, I understand that it is adjustable to 9-10 bars. Fitting the OPV reduces pump pressure from 16 bar to 10 bars.

Thanks,

Hi, I'd like to ask if it'll be lose or not with IMS 57MM 22 basket.
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Martin,
We tested the 57mm tamper with the IMS single basket.
There was a little play - 2mm. The IMS B642TH19.5N basket is 57.5mm at the top (and less as you go down, as the basket is tapered) The Ascaso i.280 has even more play - as it 57.3mm inside.
So not a perfect fit - a little loose on both baskets.. :-(

Do I still need to have a water filter for my coffee machine, if our hotel has a softner for the building?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Thomas, Yes - You still need a dedicated water filter for your coffee machine. Usually, the water for the whole building can lose its ability if too much water went into it or is not generated on time. So while handy - they are not reliable. Coffee machine downtime, waiting on repairs and parts is too important to leave to chance.

Good evening,
I’ve recently purchased a 2008 Ascaso Steel 2 Duo… (I think!)
There’s not much information out there regarding these machines, and I’m trying to work out whether this shower screen will fit my model.
The sticker on the base of the machine states INOX DUO M.F. STEAM.
My machine currently has a very small, rudimentary looking shower screen with wide holes. It seems to fit but it looks very basic for a machine at this price point and I’ve seen photos of larger screens (a bit like the one pictured) on this machine elsewhere.
Happy to provide photos or any other details necessary. Any help or advice gratefully received!
Thanks,
James

Hi James, I think you have the versatile version of Steel, if so, you will need a converter kit to use a ground shower screen. Search Ascaso Versatile To Ground Kit - allows you to have full extraction using ground coffee.

Hi, I have been looking to upgrade my Rancilio Silvia steam wand to a cold touch one, so that I wouldn't get the milk caked on. Going by the description this one seems like it should fit, but is going to be about 2cm longer? Is that the case or am I missing some important detail? Thanks!
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Vojtech, I cannot confirm if it will fit or not, but the dimensions are the same for our generic steam wand - see Rancilio Silvia Steaming Wand V3. No problem to return if it does not fit.

Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Gil, While it's possible to de-scale a prosumer machine, it is a procedure best performed by a technician or competent person. Only the group + heat exchanger + group solenoid could be de-scaled - a pressurized boiler could not be de-scaled.

Hi Noemie, We source this from a manufacturer from Milan Italy, they get it directly from Rancilio. It does not state where it was made. This is the latest steam wand made from stainless steel - Previous wands were made from chrome-plated brass.

Hi, I watched some Youtube videos on this UNO and it seems there is a wait before using the steam wand of over 2 minutes. Some comments suggested that the wait is not as long in UK/EU due to 220v power supply vs the lower power supply in the USA. Could you please comment on this as it would be a key factor in my decision. Thank you. Jason
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Jason, Yes, you have to wait for the thermoblock to reach the steam point before you have steam, as there is only 1 boiler. (No wait if you have the DUO). The voltage is different in USA 120v v 230v in the EU, think the wait time would probably be the same. 2 min is very little - turn on the steam, and by the time you have your milk and jug collected it's almost time to steam anyway.

I have fitted this to a 2007 Gaggia Classic. It protrudes far too high to get the cup warmer refitted. The only way to fit it will be to put an elbow out of the pump and fit the Pulsor horizontally - is this permitted by the manufacturer?

Hi Ian, any modification would invalidate the manufacturer's warranty. Yes - you should be able to add a 1/8'' elbow fitting - see below.

So you may have to use a paper shim to make your PF sit at 6 o clock.

Steve

asks
Hi
I have cleaned and unblocked my gag is classic, the pump makes a loud noise but will not pump or drawer any water, the pump is working when connected to water supply independently so would it likely be the selanoid that needs replacing
Thanks
Steve
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Steve,
A common problem with the classic is a blocked solenoid -This sounds like this is your issue.
Before replacing the solenoid - try this trick - It may solve the issue.
1. Loosen both the hexagonal screws on the solenoid - approx 1/2 way (don't remove them).
2. Turn on the coffee button for 1-2 sec.
3. Check the solenoid to see if water is exiting the boiler
4. If no water escapes - the boiler group is blocked - if water escapes easily, then the solenoid is blocked and can be replaced.
Unblocking the group is a separate issue.

Hi, I have taken my gaggia cubika down from the attic after 10+ years in storage ...the heater is heating up ..but there isn't a gig out of the pump. Don't think it's scaled up as it's not even attempting to pump.
It made one second noise on the first press of the button then nothing ..no water being drawn up to spray head or steamer. From you experience is it most likely the pump is knackered and replacing it will solve problem.
I can send pictures by email if that would help.
Kind regards
Sue
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Sue, If the group or solenoid is blocked - then this would be the symptom. There is a blockage somewhere - unlikely it's the pump, as there was some action initially. You would probably have to remove the solenoid 1st -(Allen key anticlockwise) There may be some debris in the valve or group. Try turning the pump on for 1 sec. with the solenoid back on but loose. If water spurts out of the group/solenoid - then blockage has been cleared, if not blockage still remains. Solenoid/group blockage is a very common issue with these models and is worth the trouble.

Hi,
I'm owning a Rocket Giotto Evo R model 2019, should I order the generic group ring or the PF group gasket ring?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Elise, probably the 8mm gasket should be fine for the 4-year-old model. If the portafilter should slide to 5 o clock position - you can use the paper shim. This will correct it to 6 o clock.

What is the difference between porcelain and standard mushroom?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Crylle,
The main difference is no mineral build-up on the mushroom stem.
Chrome-plated brass will flake over time and even stainless steel will have some magnesium or calcium buildup.
Also heats up fast to help with heat stability. Once the mushroom is in place - leave it there as it can get damaged on removal.

Hi, I am interested in this product however I often make americanos and note there is no hot water outlet. Is there an easy way to get produce hot water from the machine?

Hi Thomas, You can get hot water by switching on the water switch, water is then diverted to the steam arm - open the steam for the water. Turn off the water switch when you have enough. Alternatively, you can use the coffee group. Water will exit at coffee temp for both the steam arm and group - so you will have to heat the cup 1st. PS If this is going to the UK RM will collect 20% UK VAT + small duty (approx 2.5%)

The Nical 125 nozzle is 6mm and W40mm x H80mm - The ClaroSwiss is slightly wider and taller at 64mm x 220mm. It will do exactly the same job as the ClaroSwiss but you may have to use a clamp to hold the hose on.

About the triple basket, and 18+ grams of dose. Will the delonghi dedica choke up? Asking for light to medium roast, mostly use a local roasters blend of 50-50 Arabica-robusta but also brew with their 100% Arabica blend sometimes and might try single origin. Currently with the stock shower screen and a non-ims bottomless basket 18 grams work fine. Plan to change to ims shower screen and this triple ims basket, which I heard needs finer grind and thus I'm wondering if my dedica might choke up.

Hi Manos, If the grind is too fine, then it will choke, you may have to adjust the grind to correspond with the extra qty of coffee.

Hi Octavian, Yes this will fit Anna PL41TEM. However, it does not fit quite as well with our generic portafilters, as our fins are thinner. If you want to use this competition with a generic Lelit portafilter you will need to make your gasket thicker using Paper Shim Gasket 0.5mm.

Hi, I'm interested in repacing the shower screen, Im not sure which will fit better for my e61 machine. The Matrix screen or ims competition. Could you advise please?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Dor, E61 groups have push-on shower screens - so both the Matrix and IMS E61 shower screens will fit. The Matrix acts like a second coffee puck screen, slows the extraction, and can drop the coffee extraction temperature as well.

Hi
I am a home barista thinking of buying the Motta europa but don't know which size will be best for me.
I currently have a fairly cheap pitcher 500ml which seems to be about the right size. I tend to make flat whites and cappuccino. I use various cup sizes depending on the drink , they are 220ml 200ml and 375ml for the cappuccino.
Your advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Roy
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Roy, For home use - probably 500ml - 750ml is mainly for commercial use. If using 500ml for flat white that will hold up to 450ml or 500ml for frothy milk.

Hi,
The sizes listed for this basket don’t seem to match the E&B website - for example, the H24 should be 14-16g?

Thanks

Hi Tom, the coffee qty is approx and depends on a few variables. Yes, this is discontinued from us - we can still get the H26, but it would be the full price. Very good value while stock lasts.

Hi Tim, this is an aftermarket nut - not the original Pavoni. It was designed for the larger 1.6L 16-cup Professional and Stradivari models. For older Europiccola made in 1980s, the gauge tends to touch the boiler, if you remove the plastic protection cover during screwing and put it back on after - it should be fine.

Hi I purchased matrix shower screen from you..it is great and amazing. Currently I am using with paper filters to reduce the cleaning process. Can I use metal puck screen? Can it damage the shower screen?

Hi Tommy,
Using paper filters would be better.
However, if using a puck screen, use a thin one - a thick one will decrease the qty of coffee in the basket, slow the extraction, and drop the temperature of the coffee.

Hi, will H32 fit into Joe Frex EC680 Dedica double portafilter? I did measure it on my own and it is approx. 33mm deep portafilter next to wall, so in theory it could fit H32, but if you could test it, I'd appreciate.
Additionally, which leveler would fit H32? I own 51mm leveler, but due to fact that other IMS baskets I own are conical, it cannot go deeper than a millimeter or two.

To be sure remove the group screw and measure the depth -

I did just receive both the double spout and bottomless portafilter for Gaggia Classic pro. Darren
from
United Kingdom
asks
Hi,I recently purchased one of these but have only just got round to opening it due to my Mother in Law passing away, so apologies for the late question.
You advertise this as fitting the cherub, but the spout is on the handle side, where as on the original, the spout is on the machine side.
This means the spout on the new filter hangs too far forward and is not over the drip tray.......am I being dumb as I can't see that I can get it to turn to the machine side.
Hope this makes sense without photos.....
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Darren, The spout should be facing the handle side, like the original. It is factory-tightened or glued so it may be difficult to remove it. You could insert a screwdriver into the open spout and twist it anti-clockwise. Once the spout is removed you will need to add PTFE tape to the thread, (or thread glue) and screw it back onto the required position. Contact us if you are having issues.

Hi, My Gaggia Classic (bought in about year 2000) doesn’t have any water coming out of the brewhead. The wand is working fine. In the past I have resolved this by disassembling and descaling the boiler and brew head. This time I also took apart and cleaned the solenoid valve, but, it still didn’t work. Just before it stopped working there was a new clicking sound coming from the machine, which I have never had before. Please can you tell me what could be the problem/solution?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi David, The group is probably blocked by mineral deposits. When there is a build-up, it can block the solenoid after a time. You need to remove the group, separate the boiler and immerse the group in a descaling solution. Then insert a brush or thin metal into the group to remove any remaining build-up. You will need a new boiler gasket and possibly a new solenoid.

I’ve just bought this and neither of my 51mm tampers fit properly inside the basket? Because it’s like a a slight cone, the tampers only just fit in the top then won’t push down properly? Is this a fault or do I need a 50mm tamper??
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Tom, We have tested this on our #3315 tamper and it fits - however as the basket is cone-shaped - it will not go down very far. The Joe Frex #5003 is a better fit, goes down halfway. A 50mm tamper will go all the way down but will be loose on the top.

Hi,lovely Bluestar Team,i am a beginner in the hobby 🙂😇and i have some questions about a few products. Please help me before i make an order!
Please explane the best possible and correct way to install this VBM Pump Gauge!
I have an old Brasilia Club/Lady with single boiler. I want to install a Vibiemme OPV with all suggested fittings and this manometer!
I think i can install the OPV,but where schould be the manometer installed?
I would like to be somehow between the boiler and may be the solenoid valve...
Is that the correct place ,'cause i want to check the real pressure in the brewgroup durring extraction?
Thanks in advance
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Yani, I cannot advise you as we have no experience with this modification. It is a 1/8" fitting so some of our fittings may fit this gauge. Search "1/8 fitting" in our search bar. Maybe a T-fitting + Elbow fitting?

Hi Ollie, they are similar, both are 0.1-2 bars, but this valve has a 1/8
" fitting, yours has a push-on/clip PVC fitting. You may be able to replace the PVC fitting with our Fitting 1/8F x 1/8F + Push fitting 1/8 x 4mm. Not certain, it would be your risk - but probably would fit.

Hey guys, does that solenoid should be replaced on Ascaso Dream PID (2018) if the over-pressure during manual back-flushing drops down only after manually opening of hot water faucet? It also doesn't give me the chance to adjust the pressure spring which that machine can do. Thank you
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Timur,
- If this valve failed, you would have no coffee.
- The pressure will drop if you open the water tap on the Uno and dream PID.
- The OPV is controlled by the internal spring, which is adjusted by turning the screw.

Hi, That pipe exploded on my machine. I have no steam leaks or escapes, but as soon as I switch on the steam switch (the one on left) pulsating noises and vibrations appear and if I don't release the steam valve (even though steam is not ready) pipe bursts. I got the kit from you before, all is replaced but I don't use the steam.
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Obigraf, I could not find your order, but it should not do that. I suspect that the nut-holding the PTFE pipe is not fully tightened. Steam should cause the pulsating, this is normal. In any case we have spare pipes. Contact customerservice@bluestarcoffee.eu , if you need one .

Hi, I puchased a quickmill Vibration Pump pulsor for my Victoria Lelit and have a question about the installation.
My machine as an OPV adjustment and a selfstarting pump valve.
Should I put the vibration pump between those element or after the POV adjustment valve?
My machine as an OPV adjustment and a selfstarting pump valve.
Should I put the vibration pump between those element or after the POV adjustment valve?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Good question !
Probably insert the OPV 1st, on the pump an then install the pulsar after the OPV.
That way real pressure is adjusted 1st and vibrations smoothed after.

Hi, I’m new to the La Pavoni Europiccola. I bought an almost new one on eBay. I have used other peoples. The disc with no hole can be used with both tablets or powder - but will only back flush.

Is the tamper self-leveling? Many dynamometric tampers have the problem, that the tamper-achse with the spring can move a little bit inside the handle, so there ist 2-3° skew tamping.
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Rita, When you press the handle down the level disc prevents it from going further - once the tamper base touches the portafilter it cannot be skewed. Therefore you get a level tamp. See " #3366 " with a thick base for skew-free tamping.

Is it the same Coffee Sensor walnut knob (ID: 2431) sold separately, or Blue Star Coffee will eventually add a self-branded knob?

Hi Dieter, Yes it comes with a paper shim - which will make the gasket thicker, which is ideal for older machines.

Dear Blue star coffee, I've recently received this Quickmill pulsor and tried to assemble it. The pulsor seems to screw in too deep or misses about 15mm of clearance in the Ulka pump's neck. I have tried with both EX5 and EP5. Both times the Quickmill pulsor broke the pump valve piece on the inside and the pump valve gets stuck. Are you perhaps familiar with the clearance issue and know how I could solve it? Thank you!
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Anu,
The thread is too long and does not go all the way into the EX5/EP5. You will need to use PTFE tape to make the seal.

What is the difference between the Motta leveler and this palm tamper?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
The leveler is used to distribute the grounds and iron out pockets of air - tamping alone will not do this. This palm tamper rests on the portafilter edge, so you cannot get an uneven tamp.

Hello, I was wondering if the IMS basket will fit in this portafilter - 29 mm height
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
This portafilter is tapered at the base - so it will not take the deep H29 IMS basket.

Hello !
May you indicate me if the two copper pipes are included with the manometer ?
Thank you.

Hi Laurent, This ascaso gauge does not include the copper pipes. It has 2 brass thread inlets at the back of the gauge which attaches to the copper pipes.

Does the 41 tamper fit ?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

The 41mm tamper does not go fully into the conic chamber, like the Marzocco filter basket. Better to use the 58.5mm tamper.

What is the difference between this and the ascaso double basket?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
The ascaso basket i.280 is 1mm taller, so slightly more capicity and has more holes with smaller perforations than IMS = more crema and dryer puck.

What is the difference between this Dream and the old Dream ?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
The older version had a 57mm portafilter - this uses a 58mm commercial size. It uses a thermoblock for endless steam and the boiler does not wear out or needs replacement gaskets. Also uses a commercial steam wand and a pump pressure gauge.

I have a water pipe made from polished aluminium for tea on my machine - is it ok to use this to remove the lime buildup ?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
No - If you immerse the aluminium in any acid - it will tarnish and go grey. Use window cleaner to clean polished aluminium.

What is the difference between this stock basket and the IMS or ascaso baskets ?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
The stock basket is 24mm in height - ascaso 23mm, IMS is 22mm
However ascaso can take almost 18 grams and IMS 12/14 and 14/16g
ascaso has more holes with smaller perforations than IMS or stock basket. = more crema and dryer puck.

Would this fit for BFC Junior Plus, as an e61 group model also?
Blue Star Coffee Replies:

Hi Stelios, It may fit the BFC, as the generic ones do - check your height to make sure, If it is 80mm top to base - then it should fit. See below or search #5396 for the generic version.

I want the white scale version.
Also I am worried that the adjustment is not smooth. Can you please comment on this?

Hi Lenoid, This comes with the coffee sensor black gauge as standard. The adjustment should be smooth as the inside the FC, is a pin that is moved by turning the lever - see customer reviews for more info.

Sorry for my questions, but could you please make a video, how to use it exactly? How can I put the collar on the basket if the level disc stands out so far? There is a big distance between the collar and the level disc, that’swhy the level disc presses the coffee ground before the collar reaches the basket.
Blue Star Coffee Replies:
|
Hi Rita, When you press the tamper down - the tamper base will lower down to the basket and the level disc sits on the basket - the tamper cannot be skewed. A level tamp will ensure a total extraction.
