Spare parts for traditional coffee machines.
What is a flow meter?
Flow meters are sensors, that count the volume of water dispensed from the coffee group.
They work by using a magnetic wheel, each revolution represents a quantity of water , these revolutions are recorded in the PCB, which ultimately control the quantity of water issued from the volumetric panel.
Gicar flow meters can fail, when the magnetic becomes coated in mineral build-up or rust gets into the impeller, causing the the metal to loose conductivity.
When the flow meter stops working:
- The volumetric panel stops working, but you can still get coffee by pressing the continuous button, often marked with a *
- The LED on the flow meter no longer goes on and off.
You don't need to replace the whole flowmeter, just the flow meter top or impeller is often the quickest remedy.
The most common brand of flowmeter is Gicar Made Milan Italy
