Hi
I have cleaned and unblocked my gag is classic, the pump makes a loud noise but will not pump or drawer any water, the pump is working when connected to water supply independently so would it likely be the selanoid that needs replacing
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,
A common problem with the classic is a blocked solenoid -This sounds like this is your issue.
Before replacing the solenoid - try this trick - It may solve the issue.
1. Loosen both the hexagonal screws on the solenoid - approx 1/2 way (don't remove them).
2. Turn on the coffee button for 1-2 sec.
3. Check the solenoid to see if water is exiting the boiler
4. If no water escapes - the boiler group is blocked - if water escapes easily, then the solenoid is blocked and can be replaced.
Unblocking the group is a separate issue.

Hi is this a direct replacement for my 1997 machine?

Hi James, If you have a Gaggia classic - this will fit or if you had the Orignal CEME 588 solenoid.

Hi Guys,
I have a Gaggi Classic (2010 or possibly a little earlier) with a Parker KP07 7W coil.It seems that this will be a suitable replacement. Can you confirm that this is likely to fit please?
Thanks
Duncan

HI Duncan, if you have the aluminium boiler, this larger solenoid will fit. Its base is the same size, but the coil is bigger and stronger than the older Ceme valve.

My old CEME coil burned out in my Gaggia Classic - it had 3 terminals, though the ground one at the bottom was not connected to anything.
Which way do the wires go?
Does this new one have 3 terminals?
(not easy to see from the pictures)
Thanks

Hi David, Yes it has 3 terminals, 1 for earth and neutral and live. Connect the earth to the bottom terminal. The other terminals can be mixed.

Hi, My Gaggia Classic (bought in about year 2000) doesn’t have any water coming out of the brewhead. The wand is working fine. In the past I have resolved this by disassembling and descaling the boiler and brew head. This time I also took apart and cleaned the solenoid valve, but, it still didn’t work. Just before it stopped working there was a new clicking sound coming from the machine, which I have never had before. Please can you tell me what could be the problem/solution?

Hi David, The group is probably blocked by mineral deposits. When there is a build-up, it can block the solenoid after a time. You need to remove the group, separate the boiler and immerse the group in a descaling solution. Then insert a brush or thin metal into the group to remove any remaining build-up. You will need a new boiler gasket and possibly a new solenoid.
