Details:
The ULKA EP5 is made outside of Milan, Italy, by CEME group and comes with a PVC stem. Pumps have an average life of between 15-30,000 cups (4- 8 years) and lose their ability to extract at 9 bars of pressure over time.
Gaggia produce 2 pumps in the domestic range - both are fine to use.
Generally, if you had a plastic stem then use this one, otherwise the brass one is fine.
You may need to replace this pump if:
- If, when you turning the coffee switch on, you get no water.
- If your pump is 4 years or older, you are getting less coffee crema than you used to get then the pump pressure is fading - time to get a new one.
