How to replace Ulka Ceme or Ars pumps
💡You will need a screwdriver, PTFE tape, and a *12 or 14mm spanner.
It should take 10-20 min, depending on the machine model.
Remove the old pump:
- Plug out machine
- Open up the lid of the coffee machine
- The pump will be attached to the rubber dampers and the silicon tubing. #3
- Remove the silicon tubing. #3 and silicon elbow. #4 that leads to the water reservoir
- Next, remove the Teflon pipe. #7 that leads to the boiler, by unscrewing the nut that holds the Teflon pipe.. #7
- Finally, remove the pump.
- Remove the fuse if the pump has one #8
- To remove the pump fittings #6 and S2 Valve #5 dip the stem in boiling water for 10 min - this will loosen the thread glue and the fitting should unscrew off.
Replace the new pump:
- Replace the fitting back onto the pump using PTFE amalgamating tape/plumbers tape #1 or thread locker #1 to seal any threading.Do not cross-thread and do not over-tighten. You may use a couple of wraps of white Teflon tape but it is not always necessary.
- Screw on the Teflon piping #7 and silicon tubing.#3
- Turn off the coffee machine and activate the coffee button - check for leaks - make sure that no water escapes from the thread or that the silicon tube does not fall off.
- If ok - you are done - Make a coffee you deserve it!
- Your new pump will now pump at its optimum and should give more crema – you may have to adjust the coffee grind to reflect this.
