If this is always on how long do the batteries last? Or when you say always on do you mean there is no off switch but that it times out after a period of use? Thanks

Hi Matt, Batteries seem to last a long time - once activated. There is no/off button - so once activated it will stay on permanently. It will not time out, but stays on.

Hello,
I have a vintage machine with an open boiler. Is it possible to throw the sensor directly in to the boiler in order to monitor the water temperature?
Kind regards,
D.A.

Hi, Dont think it is designed for that purpose, you would probably shorten its life. Better to attach to the coffee group to measure the exit water temp.

Would the thermometer work with an older Gaggia Classic model? Are there instructions as to where/how to connect it?

Hi Jonathon, This does not come with instructions. Its maximum range is 110°C - the classic boiler goes to 145°C - but will show the coffee temp 104-107°C.
