This paper shim gasket is used to make your group filter gasket thicker.If, after you replace your gaskets the portafilter slides over to the right, this paper gasket will correct this.
This typically happens when your machine is over 4 years of age.
This gasket should be installed 1st followed by the main gasket.

When the group gasket goes hard and wears out you will need to replace this also.
